Overview:
We are seeking a talented and creative WordPress Developer to join our team. The WordPress Developer will play a crucial role in enhancing our online presence, improving user experience, and driving engagement with our audience. This role requires expertise in WordPress development and web design.
Responsibilities:
Website Development
- Design, develop, and maintain our organization’s WordPress website, ensuring functionality, responsiveness, and optimal user experience.
- Customize WordPress themes and plugins to meet the specific needs and branding requirements of the animal shelter.
- Implement SEO best practices to improve website visibility and search engine rankings.
Content Management
- Create and update website content, including pages, posts, images, and multimedia elements, to provide timely and relevant information to visitors.
- Manage content publishing schedules and ensure consistency in branding, messaging, and tone across all website pages and sections.
Digital Marketing Integration
- Integrate digital marketing tools and analytics platforms, such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and social media plugins, to track website performance, user engagement, and conversion metrics.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to implement digital marketing campaigns, landing pages, and lead generation forms on the website.
Website Security and Performance
- Implement security measures, updates, and backups to protect the website from security threats, malware, and data breaches.
- Monitor website performance, loading speed, and uptime, and optimize performance using caching techniques and performance optimization plugins.
- Ensure secure payment processing and compliance with data protection regulations, such as GDPR and PCI DSS.
Collaboration and Support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, communications, and IT, to align website development initiatives with organizational goals and priorities.
- Provide technical support and training to staff members on website management, content updates, and basic troubleshooting.
Performing other related duties as required to support the operation of the animal shelter and the welfare of its residents.
Knowledge of:
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite, presentation software, and other
relevant tools. - Familiarity with typical office protocols, methods, and equipment.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to safe working procedures.
- Skill in maintaining precise record-keeping.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field.
Required Background, Experience and Skills:
- Total 3+ years of experience in WordPress development, with a strong portfolio showcasing custom WordPress websites and plugins.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL, with experience in responsive web design and mobile optimization.
- Familiarity with digital marketing principles and web analytics tools.
- Experience with e-commerce development using WordPress plugins like WooCommerce.
- Knowledge of website security best practices, performance optimization techniques, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Strong problem-solving skills, demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and debug issues in WordPress websites, as well as propose and implement effective solutions.
- Understanding of SEO principles, knowledge of SEO best practices, and how to implement them within WordPress websites to improve search engine visibility and ranking.
- Ability to optimize website performance, experience in optimizing WordPress websites for speed and performance, including image optimization, caching strategies, and server-side optimizations.
