Overview:

We’re looking for a dynamic Social Media Manager with experience in social media strategy, community engagement, and content creation, particularly in the non-profit, animal welfare, or pet care sectors. As a key member of our marketing team, you will be responsible for creating and executing social media campaigns to raise awareness, drive donations, recruit volunteers, and create impactful narratives around the stories of rescued dogs. You will be instrumental in amplifying our shelter’s mission and amplifying our brand voice online.

Responsibilities:

Social Media Strategy & Development

  • Develop and implement social media strategies to promote the shelter’s mission, events, and adoptable dogs across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube etc.
  • Tailor messaging to resonate with the Indian audience, focusing on issues like stray dog welfare, adoption drives, and animal rescue stories.
  • Identify and segment target audiences (donors, volunteers, adopters) and develop campaigns that drive engagement, awareness, and conversions (donations/adoptions).
  • Monitor social media trends, analytics, and algorithm changes to optimize campaigns and adjust strategies for maximum reach and impact.
  • Utilize consumer behavior psychology to design content that creates an emotional connection with
    followers, driving both online engagement and offline support.

Content Creation & Visual Storytelling

  • Create compelling content (graphics, images, videos, blog posts, and reels) to showcase shelter dogs’ journeys, adoption success stories, and community events.
  • Oversee the production of high-quality photo and video content, focusing on emotional storytelling that connects with potential adopters and donors.
  • Collaborate with volunteers, partners, and the shelter team to source user-generated content and behind-the-scenes stories.
  • Use Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar tools to create visually engaging content that aligns with our shelter’s branding and tone.
  • Plan and schedule content via social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer), ensuring consistency and timely execution.

Community Engagement & Relationship Building

  • Engage with followers on social media and emails by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries, building positive and supportive relationships.
  • Host online campaigns, contests, and community events to increase donations and raise awareness of our cause.
  • Create and manage regular live video sessions (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, YouTube etc. live, or using Mailchimp) to showcase the shelter, introduce potential adopters to dogs, and drive adoption.
  • Cultivate relationships with influencers, animal rights activists, and pet care experts to further amplify our messaging.
  • Build online communities of dog lovers and animal welfare advocates through Facebook groups, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn etc.
  • Provide excellent customer service and community management, responding to concerns or feedback in a timely, professional manner.

Campaign Management & Fundraising

  • Conceptualize and execute social media campaigns that align with fundraising goals and animal rescue missions.
  • Implement donation drives, pet food carnivals, and other community engagement events to support ongoing shelter initiatives.
  • Create compelling fundraising content, including emotional appeal posts, donation links, and community driven campaigns.
  • Track and analyze campaign performance (using tools like Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, etc.) to optimize content, budget allocation, and engagement strategies.
  • Estimate and manage budgets for paid social media campaigns (Facebook Ads, Instagram Promotions, etc.), ensuring cost-effectiveness.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Regularly analyze social media insights to track performance and extract actionable insights, refining strategies as necessary.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports highlighting key metrics such as reach, engagement, and conversion rates.
  • Continuously monitor social media traffic and identify trends in content performance to help guide future campaigns.

Crisis Management & PR

  • Proactively monitor and address any negative feedback or social media crises, ensuring that any issues are handled with care and professionalism.
  • Work closely with the senior management team to craft responses to negative situations, ensuring a consistent, compassionate, and positive brand image

Knowledge of:

  • Language Proficiency: Strong command of English and Hindi (or local Indian languages) for effective
    communication with diverse audiences.
  • Creative & Strategic Thinking: Ability to think outside the box, generate innovative content ideas, and adapt to changes in the social media landscape.
  • SEO & Web Traffic: Understanding of SEO best practices and how to leverage social media to drive website traffic and increase visibility.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in social media management platforms (Hootsuite, Buffer, etc.), analytics tools, and familiarity with tools like Mailchimp for email marketing campaigns.
  • Compassionate & Mission-Driven: Passion for animal welfare and a genuine interest in using social media to make a positive impact on the lives of dogs in need.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, presentation software, analytical tools,
    relevant social media marketing tools etc.
  • Familiarity with typical office protocols, methods, and equipment. 
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to safe working procedures.
  • Skill in maintaining precise record-keeping.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business Administration or related field.
  • Certifications in Social Media Management, Digital Marketing, etc. will be an added advantage

Required Background, Experience and Skills:

  • Total 4+ years of hands-on experience in managing social media accounts for diverse brands or organizations, showcasing the ability to adapt tone, style, and content to different audiences and industries.
  • Demonstrated track record of 4+ years in crafting and executing social media strategies across multiple platforms, with a focus on driving engagement, brand awareness, and conversions.
  • Proven experience of 4+ years in analyzing social media metrics and trends to inform content creation and campaign optimization.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated proficiency in content creation, including graphic design, video editing, and copywriting, to produce compelling and shareable social media content.
  • Strong understanding of social media algorithms and best practices, staying updated on industry trends and platform changes to ensure maximum organic reach and engagement.
  • Experience in crisis management and reputation monitoring on social media platforms, with the ability to respond promptly and effectively to mitigate negative feedback or PR issues.
  • 3+ years of experience in managing social media communities and fostering meaningful interactions with followers, including implementing user-generated content strategies and influencer partnerships.
  • Extensive knowledge of social media advertising platforms (e.g., Facebook Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager) and experience in creating and optimizing paid social campaigns to meet specific KPIs.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to create engaging and impactful content.
  • Proficiency in graphic design and video editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to generate innovative ideas and campaigns.
  • Experience with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer) and analytics platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-centric approach to community engagement.
