Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Rescue Operations Coordinator to lead and oversee all aspects of animal rescue operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, leadership abilities, and a passion for animal welfare. This role involves planning, coordinating, and executing rescue missions while ensuring the safety and well-being of both animals and rescue team members.

Responsibilities:

Rescue Operation Planning

  • Develop comprehensive plans for rescue operations based on specific needs and requirements.
  • Coordinate with relevant teams to ensure alignment and support for rescue efforts.

Emergency Response

  • Respond promptly to animal rescue and distress calls, dispatching the ambulance as needed.
  • Prioritize urgent situations and coordinate ambulance services accordingly.

Ambulance Coordination

  • Coordinate scheduling of ambulance services for the release of recovered pets.
  • Ensure timely and efficient transport of animals to their destinations.

Follow-up and Resolution

  • Follow up on unresolved rescue cases, providing necessary assistance until satisfactorily resolved.
  • Close cases once resolved and ensure proper documentation.

Community Engagement

  • Solicit Google reviews from individuals involved in rescue operations, fostering positive feedback and community engagement.

Resource Mobilization

  • Identify and mobilize necessary resources for successful rescue missions.
  • Liaise with suppliers and partners to procure required resources in a timely manner.

Team Coordination

  • Lead and coordinate rescue teams, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth execution of tasks.
  • Undertake a range of administrative tasks to ensure staffing requirements and obligations are maintained, including approving timesheets, monitoring call queues, and managing work breaks.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments before each rescue operation.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of rescue teams and individuals in distress.

Communication and Liaison

  • Maintain open communication with relevant teams, coordinating activities and facilitating cooperation.

Pet Owner Assistance

  • Assist pet owners in understanding and navigating the helpline number’s IVR system, addressing queries, and providing guidance.
  • Keep pet owners informed about the status of the ambulance until the animal is safely picked up.

Logistics Management

  • Manage logistical aspects of rescue operations, ensuring efficient utilization of resources.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of all rescue activities, including mission plans and operational outcomes.
  • Enter relevant information into the Rescue Management System and medical treatment records.

Training and Capacity Building

  • Organize training sessions and workshops for rescue team members to enhance their skills in emergency response and rescue operations.
  • Performing other related duties as required to support the operation of the animal shelter and the welfare of its residents.

Knowledge of:

  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, presentation software etc.
  • Familiarity with typical office protocols, methods, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to safe working procedures.
  • Skill in maintaining precise record-keeping.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communications or any relevant field preferred.

Required Background, Experience and Skills:

  • Total 4+ years of experience in customer support.
  • 2+ years of experience in emergency response and disaster relief for animals – Extensive background in planning and executing rescue missions during natural disasters, emergencies, and other crisis situations, animal welfare, or related fields.
  • 2+ years of experience in animal behavior assessment and handling – Proficiency in assessing and handling various animal behaviors, including fear, aggression, and trauma, to ensure the safety of both animals and rescuers.
  • 2+ years of experience in veterinary triage and first aid for animals – Solid understanding of veterinary first aid procedures and protocols, including assessing injuries, stabilizing conditions, and administering initial medical care in the field.
